International competition for maître d'hôtels Coupe Georges Baptiste held in Tokyo
In Michelin starred restaurants,
the maître d'hôtel is considered just as significant as the chef. Coupe Georges
Baptiste has a 50-year history in France, but this is the first time the
competition is held in Japan. Competitors from 14 countries displayed their
skills and knowledge in 9 tests, in bids to be crowned the world's best maître d'hôtel.
The honour was won by a Japanese participant, attesting to the high quality of
restaurant service in Japan.
